Cardi B Celebrates Daughter Kulture’s 1st Birthday Party Amid N.Y.C. Blackout: ‘Y’all Made It Lit’

Not even a blackout could stop Cardi B from turning her daughter’s first birthday into a “lit” occasion.

The “Press” rapper and husband Offset threw their daughter Kulture Kiari a rainbow-themed event on Saturday to mark her first birthday, though the big day went awry as New York City suffered a massive power outage for several hours.

Despite the darkness, Cardi, 26, revealed the party was still a blast, and thanked her partygoers from turning a “negative situation” into a “LITUATION” on Instagram.

“The fact that I wanted my daughter[‘s] party in 42nd street instead of [New] Jersey and to my f-ing luck New York had a power outage right on that Deum area!! BITCH THE DEVIL,” she captioned the post. “But WOW how a negative situation turn into a LITUATION !!!”

The mother of one continued, “Omg I had soooooo much f- fun and my daughter as well. Thank ya sooo much everybody that came, I know my daughter won’t remember this day but when she older and have her kids this will be a good story to tell lols. I will be daydream this day for ma long.”

The star also recorded a video that explained the celebration at first went a whole hour with no lights or music.

Things turned around when power was briefly restored, and even with no air conditioning, “people [were] still dancing, having fun,” she said.

“The lights came completely back on, but then they came right back off when I was about to cut the cake,” she said. “And then they cut the lights back on and nobody wanted to leave! And it’s ‘cause of y’all, and it was such a fun party, thank you so much.”

The star shared several photos from the bash to her Instagram story, including a sweet video of Kulture, wearing a rainbow dress, in the arms of dad Offset, 27. Cardi also showed off the impressive dessert spread, which included a five-tier cake, cupcakes and more all in keeping with the rainbow theme.

At one point, partygoers could be seen lighting up the dance floor with flashlights on their phones.

Parts of New York City, mainly Manhattan’s midtown and Upper West Side, were briefly plunged into darkness Saturday night in a major power outage that affected approximately 72,000 people, according to Con Edison.

The outage, which started just before 7 p.m. and was fixed hours later, came on the 42nd anniversary of the 1977 blackout, which affected the entire city and sparked chaos.

Kulture’s birthday bash came three days after her 1st birthday on Wednesday.

Shawn Mendes Dropped Camila Cabello in Dance Rehearsal For ‘Señorita’ Music Video

It’s safe to say Shawn Mendes’ suave character in “Señiorita” took a bit of practice.

Last week, the Canadian pop star, 20, and Camila Cabello, 22, released a steamy music video for their hit new duet — and the former Fifth Harmony member just shared some hilarious behind the scenes footage from their rehearsal for the Dave Meyers-directed vid.

While practicing their moves for the sizzling dance floor scene, Mendes didn’t quite grab on to Cabello’s hand during a sequence that required him to pull the singer towards him, causing her to fall to the floor.

“remember when you DROPPED ME ?!!!!! @shawnmendes,” Cabello wrote on Twitter, sharing the behind the scenes footage with fans.

Cabello instantly started laughing when she hit the ground — asking if they got it on camera. Mendes was quick to spring to her aid and helped the singer up while asking if she’s “ok.”

“You can’t just drop Camila Cabello you can’t do that,” he jokingly said to the camera. “You can’t do that if I do that again it’s over for me.”

Luckily, (to his relief) Mendes got the move just right in the official music video, in which he and Cabello play passionate lovers.  The “Havana” singer stars as a waitress while Mendes plays a mysterious motorcycle rider.

Cabello and Mendes previously worked together on their 2015 hit “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” which appeared on Mendes’ album Handwritten. The 2015 song helped spark relationship rumors between the pair. And though their chemistry onscreen in the “Señiorita” music video is undeniable, the two have consistently confirmed that they are just friends.

Mendes and Cabello had been working on the secret project for about nine months, the 22-year-old star admitted during a live chat with fans on YouTube on Thursday, prior to the release. Despite spending a lengthy time on the video, the new song was recorded in April.

“Actually it’s been a long time coming,” she explained. “We really felt like it was the right time about two months ago.”

From one mother to another!

While attending the London premiere of The Lion King on Sunday, Meghan Markle met JAY-Z and Beyoncé, who voices Nala in the new live-action revamp of the beloved 1994 Disney film.

As she and her husband Prince Harry hugged and shared a conversation with the couple, the two mothers also spoke about baby Archie.

After telling Meghan how nice it was to meet her, Beyoncé, also 37, was heard telling the royal, “that baby is so beautiful,” in videos posted on fan accounts.

The royal couple left their 9-week-old son Archie at home for the night out, which marked Meghan’s first film premiere as a royal.

Beyoncé and her husband share three children of their own: daughter Blue Ivy, 7, and twins Sir and Rumi, 2.

Beyoncé and JAY-Z, 49, have been quite open about their adoration for Meghan in the past.

During their 2019 Brit Awards acceptance speech, the power couple accepted their prize for Best International Group via video message, recreating their music video for “APES—.” But instead of posing in front of Leonardo da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa,” they stood in front of a regal portrait of the Duchess of Sussex wearing a sparkling crown and pearl necklaces.

The pop star later gave a short explanation via Instagram about why they chose to use the photo — and offered her congratulations on Meghan’s status as a mom-to-be!

“In honor of Black History Month, we bow down to one of our Melanated Monas,” Beyoncé wrote. “Congrats on your pregnancy! We wish you so much joy.”

For the outing, Meghan wore a black Jason Wu dress with sheer sleeves and accessorized with Aquazzura heels and a Gucci clutch. Meanwhile, Harry looked dapper in a black suit with a bow tie.

The star-studded evening was held in support of Harry’s ongoing conservation work and his service on behalf of communities near endangered wildlife in Africa.

At the premiere, the royal couple met some of the cast and crew, including Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Walt Disney Company CEO and chairman Bob Iger as well as Elton John, Pharrell Williams and the film’s director Jon Favreau before watching the film.

They will also have the chance to chat with representatives from organizations doing ground-breaking work for conservation and the environment.
