Selena Gomez Covers «Time» & Reflects On The Power Of Social Media

Selena Gomez lands on the cover of Time magazine (!!) as one of 46 women of different ages, ethnicities and political backgrounds changing the world. Why was the pop star selected for this honor? She became the first person to accumulate 100 million followers on Instagram, a tool she uses to empower and enlighten her dedicated disciples. “I think it’s really hard to be a kid now, especially with social media,” the 25-year-old muses. “I can’t imagine what it would be like to grow up with that.”

“It’s already difficult to get up every day and just feel good about yourself without seeing the highlights of everyone else’s life,” she continues. “That’s why I like being vulnerable with my fans on social media. I like that they’ve seen my mistakes. I try to use that as a way to connect with them. That’s all I can do. I hope that they know that strength doesn’t mean that you have to put on a facade. Strength is being vulnerable.” In a meta twist, Selena jumped on her iconic Instagram account to repost the cover and add a personal note.

“Sometimes it’s incredibly difficult to wake up every day knowing there is so much going on in the world,” the “Fetish” hitmaker writes. “At times I feel selfish, I ask why, I ask how can this change? Will it actually ever change? I try to contribute my heart before anything because it can be so easy to lose the desire to have hope when sometimes all I want to be is angry. When I read about the beautiful women who wake up consciously every day to make a change, it inspires me to want to do so much more.”

“Not really sure how I got so lucky Time but thank you for highlighting the power of what we can and will always strive to be. I believe in the goodness in the land of the living,” Selena ends her message. “I hope this is just the beginning of more change.” See her post below.

Demi Lovato Finds Peace On “You Don’t Do It For Me Anymore”

Demi Lovato moves on from a lover on her latest Tell Me You Love Me buzz track, “You Don’t Do It For Me Anymore.” Earlier this month the 25-year-old hypothesized that one of the songs recorded for the album would stir up some headlines as a presumed diss track, and the stirring power ballad is likely that release. “I see the future without you. The hell was I doing in the past? Now that I’ve learned all about you, a love like ours wouldn’t last,” she boldly proclaims over a sparse production in the opening lines.

With a simple yet effective production from Jonas Jeberg and Anton Kuhl, the focus remains fully on Demi’s voice as she works through the heartbreak and moves on to a better future. There is a beauty in the emotionally-fraught lyrics, and you have to appreciate her stark honesty on the release. As the heat subsides, this would be an effective single for the cooler months of the year and could be one of the diva’s most successful ballads since 2011’s “Skyscraper.”

Demi is ramping up the promo as she prepares to face off against her fellow pop divas later this month. She, Miley CyrusShania TwainDolly Parton and now Michael Jackson are all set to release albums on September 29, and it is expected to be one of the most explosive weeks in music this year. With her wholehearted embrace of a more earnest musicality, Demi has emerged as one of the most anticipated releases from the week, and she has yet to disappoint.

The LP’s unapologetic lead single “Sorry Not Sorry” is finding plenty of love on the charts and she has another soulful bop on her hands with buzz track “Tell Me You Love Me.” Coupled with the press that “You Don’t Do It For Me Anymore” is bound to receive, it looks like Demi might come out on top later this month. Listen to her latest below from midnight EST tonight.

Drake Has a Huge Portrait of Beyonce in His Recording Studio

Drake’s respect for music’s leading ladies has always been well-documented — after all, he tattooed R&B darlings Aaliyah and Sade on his body. On Tuesday, he inadvertently upped the ante with a recent photo of his recording studio, which displays a massive painting of Beyonce.

Hanging on the left side of his studio, Beyonce’s gleeful smile adorns the wall. Instead of being amazed at the idea of Drake being in the studio with Baka Not Nice, fans zeroed in on the huge painting. Of course, Twitter applauded Drake for his fandom and appreciation of Queen B.

«Drake has a 6 foot Beyoncé portrait in his recording studio,» reads one tweet.  «Drake has a painting of Beyoncé in his condo/studio, my man better stan,» said another.

If you recall, Drake exuded signs of Beyonce fever when he released his 2013 track «Girls Love Beyonce.» Later in the year, the two mega-stars paired up for Bey’s «Mine.»
