Pink’s “What About Us” Is The Most 2017 Pop Anthem Imaginable

Pink launches her 7th album today (August 10) with a soaring protest song called “What About Us.” Co-written with Johnny McDaid of Snow Patrol and Steve Mac(he also produced it), the pop/rocker’s latest is the most 2017 song imaginable. From the chorus, which poses a series of questions no one can answer, to the very on-trend acoustic/electronic hybrid production, this is basically a snapshot of the here and now. It’s political without being obnoxious, pissed off and ultimately, a call to action.

“What about us? What about all the times you said you had the answers?” Pink asks on the chorus. “What about us? What about all the broken happy ever afters?” There’s a whiff of desperation about the verses (“we are problems that want to be solved, we are children that need to be loved”), but things change at the bridge. “Sticks and stones they may break these bones, but then I’ll be ready, are you ready? It’s the start of us waking up.” The 37-year-old is destined to add to her impressive tally of hits with this rousing, radio-ready anthem.

Nikki Reed Gives Birth to a Baby Girl With Ian Somerhalder: Find Out Her Unique Name

Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder are actors and avid activists, and now they can add another title to their resume: Parents!

E! News can confirm the famous couple welcomed their first child into the world on July 25—a baby girl named Bodhi Soleil Reed Somerhalder.

They first announced their pregnancy in May after much speculation. Nikki took to Instagramto share a photo of her precious baby bump in a Bayou With Love dress (the sustainable clothing line she founded a year ago), writing, “I know you, but only because I feel you. How is it possible to love someone so much already? All I know for sure is it’s the strongest feeling I’ve ever felt.”

She added, “We’ve been sharing this body for quite some time, and we’ve already experienced so much together. We can’t wait to meet you…Love your parents.”

Ian also shared his excitement on Instagram at the time, writing: “To our friends, family, and rest of the world. In my 38 years on this earth I’ve never experienced anything more powerful and beautiful than this. I can’t think of anything more exciting than this next chapter and we wanted you to hear this from us first.

“This has been the most special time of our lives and we wanted to keep it between the three of us for as long as possible so we could enjoy this time with each other and our little one who is growing so fast…because that’s what they do, they grow so fast. Thank you for your kind energy.”

Meanwhile, Nikki and Ian tied the knot in April 2015, ringing in their second wedding anniversary this year.

The cute couple’s nuptials came about nine months after they first sparked dating rumors when they were spotted getting their PDA on in July 2014 at an L.A. farmers market.

They immediately bonded over their love for animals, and shortly thereafter, they proved they were getting serious by expanding their family and adopting a horse named Eagle as well as a kitten.

Needless to say, growing their family with some human babies was the perfect next step. Congratulations to the happy couple!

Fifth Harmony Veers Into Slinky Hip-Hop On “Angel”

When it rains, it pours! Fifth Harmony unveiled the cover and tracklist of their self-titled third LP earlier this week and now drop a new banger called “Angel.” Produced by Skrillex and Poo Bear (Justin Bieber’s “Where Are Ü Now”), the girl group’s latest finds them veering deep into hip-hop territory. “We was just a moment, nothing serious, never really paid it no mind,” Normani Kordei begins the ice-cold anthem. “Should’ve never not kept your word, woulda had a reason to keep mine.”

Lauren Jauregui then takes over. “Should’ve never crossed that line with ya,” she laments over rock-hard beats and squiggly synths. “Everything was cool, just drinkin’ with ya.” The ladies then come together for the slinky chorus. “Open your eyes, I’m more brilliant than you’ll ever be,” they coo. “Who said I was an angel?” This is bold new sound for the quartet. Fifth Harmony is seemingly more confident and adventurous than ever. If this is any indication, their new album is going to surprise a lot of people.

Rita Ora & Avicii’s “Lonely Together” Is A Melancholy Bop

Things are looking up for Rita Ora. The Brit’s current single, “Your Song,” has been a top 20 in just about every territory except the US and she’s putting the finishing touches on her sophomore album (due in early 2018). The pop star also lends her voice to Avicii’s “Lonely Together” — one of the highlights of the Swedish DJ’s comeback EP. In fact, the melancholy bop is probably the best things Rita has done since “I Will Never Let You Down” and really should be rolled out as a single.

The 26-year-old had previously performed a semi-acoustic version of the song at an event in London, but Avicii’s dreamy electronic production lifts it to another level. “It’s you and your world and I’m caught in the middle, I caught the edge of a knife and it hurts just a little,” Rita begins the track over driving synths. The diva realizes that the relationship is over, but can’t quite let go. “I might hate myself tomorrow, but I’m on my way tonight,” she sings on the chorus. “Let’s be lonely together.” Listen below.
