JAY-Z and Beyonce Name Twins Rumi and Sir

It appears the newest members of the Carter family might be named Rumi and Sir.

JAY-Z and Beyonce’s company — which owns the trademarks to their names — filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office earlier this week to secure rights to the names Rumi Carter and Sir Carter, according to documents obtained by People.

The same company filed papers for the name Blue Ivy, the couple’s 5-year-old daughter, earlier this year.

TMZ also reported the legal documents were submitted Monday (June 26), just after the newborns, reportedly a boy and a girl, were released from the hopital.

Rumi is the name of a noted 13th century Persian poet.

The trademarks are for fragrances, cosmetics, key chains, baby gear, mugs, water bottles, playing cards, tote bags, sports balls and other items.

On Friday (June 30), JAY-Z released his new album, 4:44.

Alongside other deeply personal lyrics, the title track suggests the twins were conceived naturally: “I apologize, often womanize/ Took for my child to be born/ See through a woman’s eyes/ Took for these natural twins to believe in miracles/ Took me too long for this song/ I don’t deserve you.”

Katy Perry, Niall Horan & Noah Cyrus Perform On “The Voice Australia”

Katy Perry wound up a lightning-fast promo tour of Australia with a pair of performances on The Voice. She belted out “Chained To The Rhythm” with the finalists, before returning for a show-stopping rendition of “Swish Swish.” The pop star began the song standing on a giant basketball hoop and was literally dunked when the chorus kicked in. The 32-year-old then took the stage with a group of stiletto-wearing male dancers and managed to avoid a concussion when dozens of basketballs rained down from above. This ranks as my favorite “Swish Swish” performance by far.

The Voice also hosted two other international guests. Niall Horan took a very different approach for “Slow Hands,” casually singing the summer smash with his band. Forget out about “This Town.” This is the Irishman’s real debut as a solo artist. Noah Cyrus also made an impressive appearance. The “Make Me (Cry)” hitmaker rocked a red jumpsuit and served serious attitude while performing new single “I’m Stuck.” I would have loved to hear “Stay Together,” but this is more appropriate for family TV. Watch the performances above and below.

Adele Shares Devastation at Canceling Weekend London Shows

Grammy award winner Adele canceled two sold-out weekend shows at London’s Wembley Stadium, telling fans early Saturday (July 1) that her vocal cords were damaged and that she was advised by a doctor not to perform.

In a statement to her fans on social media, Adele said she considered going ahead with her Saturday night performance but didn’t think she would have been able to make it through the show and didn’t want to “crumble” on stage.

“I’m so desperate to do them that I’ve even considered miming, just to be in front of you and be with you,” she wrote. “But I’ve never done it and I cannot in a million years do that to you. It wouldn’t be the real me up there.”

The announcement came at the end of a 15-month tour throughout Europe, the United State, Australia and New Zealand. The pop superstar said that touring never suited her well, and had hinted earlier that her current tour for the album 25 would be her last.

The 29-year-old British singer included a signed, handwritten note in the program for her Wednesday night show at Wembley saying, “I don’t know if I’ll ever tour again and so I want my last time to be at home.”

The “Hello” tour would have included a total of 123 performances had Adele gone ahead with the two shows this weekend. She performed at Wembley on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

“To not complete this milestone in my career is something I’m struggling to get my head around and I wish that I wasn’t having to write this,” she wrote. “It’s something I’m really struggling to come to terms with. It’s as if my whole career has been building up to these four shows.”

Adele said refunds will be available, if the shows can’t be rescheduled.

“I’m sorry, I’m devastated,” she said. “I’m sorry. I love you. I’m so sorry. Please forgive me x.”
